Top Ten Activities in Glasgow, Scotland

Glasgow is a bustling city in Scotland, filled with lots of things to do and places to see. Here are my favourite activities which filled 1.5 days of exploring Glasgow!

Where to stay

We stayed in Fraser Suites, a hotel which offers apartments with kitchenettes, perfect for self catering. The location was very central, the room was huge, and had everything we needed. Although be aware, the car park is an extra charge, and within the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) – watch out for any fines!

Activities

Kelvingrove Park

Kelvingrove Park is located in Glasgow’s West End, offering an escape from the bustling city life. Explore the 85 acres of lush greenery and pictueresque ponds.

Entry is free to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to admire the various exhibitions. I especially loved the natural history and science sections.

University of Glasgow

Founded in 1451, the University of Glasgow has stunning architecture and rich history. Wander around the campus and admire the charming quadrangles and cloisters.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens

Admire the lush gardens, greenhouses, and pretty flowers on display here at the Glasgow Botanic Gardens. Here, you can enjoy an extensive collection of plant species from all around the world.

SugarFall Patisserie

Head to SugarFall Patisserie to refuel with a sweet treat, the brownies here were proper fudgy and delicious!

Riverside Museum

Walk to the River Clyde, and take advantage of the free entry to the Riverside Museum. The museum offers a fascinating journey through the city’s industrial past, and has an impressive collection of vintage vehicles and historic ship models.

The Tall Ship

Access the Tall Ship via the Riverside Museum, and learn all about the interesting maritime history. You can explore the decks of the ship and read the displays and immersive exhibits.

Barras Market

Wander round Barras Market and explore this busy market in Glasgow’s East End, packed full with lots of interesting stalls. However, it’s only open Saturday and Sunday.

George Square

Head to George Square for the civic square laid out in 1781 to admire the statues of famous Scots.

Glasgow Green

Go for a stroll around Glasgow Green which stretches along the banks of the River Clyde. You can explore the sprawling lawns, scenic pathways, and historic landmarks here.

Food – bonus round!

Smokey Trotters – head here for some classic Scottish scran and an Irn Bru.

The Left Bank – enjoy some more scran at this quaint cafe for lunch.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy Glasgow as much as I did!
